PERPETUA

A solar‑powered legged robot for long‑range autonomous exploration.

The challenge

Legged robots go where wheels cannot. Energy is what holds them back.

Legged robots stand out for their versatility and adaptability in irregular terrain and extreme environments, excelling in a wide range of applications. Yet legged locomotion comes at a cost: high energy demand restricts battery endurance, and with it, operating time and range.

Our project

Maximum distance. Zero intervention.

This is where PERPETUA aims to make an impact. Our objective is to design a highly efficient legged robot for long‑range autonomous exploration, sustaining locomotion across desert-like environments and covering the largest possible distance without intervention.

Partners

Go the distance with us.

Our project wouldn't be possible without collaborators and partners supporting us.

Be part of our project.

In return, partners become part of the PERPETUA story: visible on the robot, at the ETH Rollout event in June 2027, and in everything we publish along the way.
